Last weekend, Memorial Day weekend, I had the opportunity to go to this place...

(when we were at this sign taking this picture, Elvis and Big Bird were wandering around trying to get people to take pictures with them...)
It was a fun trip. Left Friday afternoon, got in Friday evening. When we got there at 8:30 it was still almost 80 degrees. Quite the difference from the 50-60 degree temps that have been the norm around here lately!
It was really fun to see the Strip all lit up at night. I will admit, I was quite the tourist while I was there, always staring out the window at the lights and the buildings.

For some reason, I have always loved palm trees. I got to see quite alot of them during the weekend! I love them!

I got to walk down on the Strip and see all the fun buildings and hotels. It has been a long time since I was there last, and I don't really remember seeing anything here. It was fun to walk around even though there were quite alot of people everywhere. This is me over by the Bellagio, in front of the Paris and the Venetian. I got to actually go into the Eifel Tower!

Another view of the Strip, and Planet Hollywood.

At the Bellagio, they have a ceiling that is full of these big glass flowers. It is really quite amazing and really pretty to walk under!
While there, one of my main requests was to see at least one of the fountain shows at the Bellagio. Luckily, I got to see two. They are really fun to watch and I love that they are set to music! I think because we saw the shows in the middle of the day that the crowds were not as major as I expected. We got prime viewing from right in the middle of the pond, and we even got shade and didn't burn up in the 91 degree heat!

At one of the shops in the Bellagio they have this chocolate fountain that is really cool. The chocolate (which comes in three varities: white, milk, and dark) comes out of the ceiling and flows down onto various platforms. This goes all the way from the ceiling to the ground. Pretty cool!

Also there, we got gelato at one of the cafe's. Strawberry and Snickers (not mixed...they were seperate). I have never had gelato before, but it was really yummy. Very smooth and creamy!

Another thing on my list to do while there was to go and see the Las Vegas Temple. It is really a beautiful building, quite different than the ones up here. The grounds surrounding the temple are beautiful also, lots of palm trees. Somewhat reminds me of the Oakland Temple grounds. It was kind of interesting that the temple is up on the hill which is quite desolate and plain. Then the temple and the grounds, which are beautiful. Quite the difference!

On the way home, we had to drive through St. George. You can see the St. George Temple from the highway, and I decided last minute to make an unplanned stop to go visit the temple. It took no time at all to get there, and I am glad I made the visit. It is such a unique building, and it was fun to see.

I was very prepared and took my sunscreen with me. I lathered up so that I wouldn't return home as a lobster. It definitely did its job, because I was not sunburned at all when I got back! While we were there, the weather was quite up and down. Saturday was 92, Sunday was 78, and Monday was 87. Regardless of the swing in the temperature, it was still hot. When I got back on Monday night and on Tuesday (when it was 75 here) I was actually feeling cold! So strange!!!
Overall it was a really fun weekend. The drive down and back was not bad at all, and went by pretty quickly. I got to see lots of the city, visited the Strip, saw the lights and the buildings, shopped, walked a lot, had some really great food, met some good people, and had a really fun time. I am glad I got the opportunity to go!
