Birthday!

Friday was my birthday. It was really just a normal school day for me. My principal came and brought me a candy bar. Got some calls and messages from my family and friends. These are some flowers that I got.

After school, C and P and K and C held a little birthday party for me. She made a birthday banner that was way cute, and made some delicious food. We had pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, rolls, and a cookies n' cream ice cream pie. It was seriously yummy!

I had a good helper who brought me all my presents, and helped me unwrap some of them too. He loved it at first! Thanks for the help J!

Here I am with the haul. I got some clothes, a blender, kitchen containers, decorations, apples to apples, some food, and a poster. It was a really great day, thanks C, P, K, C, J, M,D, and A!

Saturday I got to go to The Original Pancake House and the Planetarium. I got the Bacon Waffle. Interesting, no? Lately I have been seeing cooking shows doing bacon cupcakes and things like that. I decided to try the Bacon Waffle. My conclusion: It was weird at first. Three flavors that I am not used to mixing. But as I ate more of it, it was not too bad! Kinda weird! It was fun to get but I don't think I need to order it again.

The planetarium was a fun trip. Saw all the science/space exhibits, and watched the new Pirates of the Carribbean on IMAX (which, if you have never seen a movie on an IMAX theater which I hadn't, its HUGE!!!). Overall it was a fun day and a great birthday! Thanks to everyone who helped make it wonderful!

A flower, food, and basketball

A few weeks ago was Teacher Appreciation Week. I didn't think they would do anything for me, because I am not one of the regular teachers. But as I went to my room that monday morning, this was waiting on my door for me! Made me feel special :)

Had a craving for waffles for dinner one night. I was looking around in my freezer and found some peaches I had from last summer. I put them together and had an amazing dinner! It was awesome, I love peaches on my waffles!!!

C has kept posters of the BYU men's basketball team hung up in her room the last few months. She wrote to the team and they sent one of the players over to her school to come visit her class and talk to the kids. I was able to sneak away to visit while the mystery guest came. It was awesome, they sent Noah Hartsock over! He is seriously dang tall. 6'8" I think he said. Wow.
He did a really good job with the kids, and it was a fun thing to see him in person!

Run to Walk

The day has come. We ran the 5k called the Race to Walk today. Have to say, I was definitely not as prepared for this race as I was for my last one in October. I have only been running one or two days a week the last little while. Definitely a change from the 3 days a week solid for 2 months before the last one!!

This race was down in Provo and wound through a small neighborhood and then along the Provo River trail. It was a really pretty last mile next to the river! Gave us something to look at while running and running and running. There were quite a lot of people there to run this race. It turned out really quite fun. Here we are at the end...we don't look too bad after running 3.1 miles!

Overall, pretty happy with my time. I actually took a little less than 2 minutes off my time from the last race in October, which was really exciting. (I ran a 37:38 in October, and a 35:40 today. Wahoo!) There was no huge hill at the end, which I think definitely helped everyone's time. There were two tunnels we had to go through that were pretty steep going into and coming out of. But it was a fun day! My legs are jello, and I think I will go take a nap, but overall it was a good day!

After we ran, C and P made a scrumptious brunch with breakfast casserole, muffins, strawberries and chocolate covered strawberries, and OJ. It was yummy and just what 5 runners needed after a hard days run.

Beautiful day

Saturday was beautiful! The weather was so awesome. It was around 76 outside and lovely. So the spring that I have been waiting for! So I got invited to a bbq at a park with A, so I went and spent pretty much all day at the park. It was great weather, and there was some good food. , Then we had tickets for Lagoon from last week, so we ran up there after the bbq. It was pretty darn crowded. There was a dance competition going on all day, and we watched a few of the clogging performances. Made me want to get up there with them and dance...

The flowers at Lagoon were beautiful! I love them! The daffodils and tulips were huge, and I just had to get a picture...

This ride is called Wicked. It basically starts off taking up straight up and straight down. What a start! I have to admit, I love it! I get very active butterflies in my stomach before I actually go on the ride, but afterwords its such a thrill! I am pretty much the only one in my family (besides the brothers-in-law) that likes roller coasters. So it was a fun day!

Me in front of the old wooden roller coaster.

So tonight I was in the mood to bake. Lately, my baking attempts have not been too successful and I don't know why. Basically, its just been my attempts at cookies. My last batch turned out like melted crisps. So.....
I gave it another shot. This time, it was the recipe for chocolate chip cookies on the back of the chocolate chip bag. Those usually turn out great, right? The dough looked yummy (and I have to admit, it was!).

They turned out pretty. The first batch came out too brown. Oh well. At least they taste alright. They are not the beautiful crackle-topped cookies I had hoped for, but that hasn't stopped me from eating them. Yay for treats!

Tostada Grande!

A and I went to try out a new mexican resturant tonight. We have been looking for one that is as good as the one in Fallon....
We hit one up tonight called Maria Bonita's Mexican Grill. Pretty good food. Sadly, its not La Fiesta but it was alright. The owner, Maria, comes and greets everyone. I was "mi princessa" and A was "my champion" according to her. Kinda funny lady.
So we ordered food, and let me just say that the portions there are big. BIG. The chimichanga was really big. I got the Tostada Grande. I thought it was "grande" because it came with lettuce and tomatoes. Little did I know, Maria would come out of the kitchen with this:

HUGE!!! It didn't even fit on the plate! It was insanely huge. I am pretty sure it could have fed 4 people. Easily. Lucky for me, I was the only one workin on this bad boy.
I ate and ate and ate, and maybe made it a quarter of the way through this thing. IT was enormous! Here is the damage I did to the tostada grande:

Looks like I ate alot, huh?? I didn't don't worry. I ate so much, i was so full! But with that much food on your plate, even eating that much hardly makes a dent.

Overall it was a fun new place to try. Just beware: if you ever try this restaurant, your portion will be mega big. You have been warned!

Visits

Right after my spring break, m and d came up for the week. M had her spring break that week, and we had a fun time. They came and split the time between staying at my house and at K's. Shopping, eating delicious food, chatting, watching lots of movies, doing projects, dying easter eggs, and enjoying being together as a family. Right after we had Easter dinner on Sunday, we took this family picture. Turned out pretty cute! Thanks for the fun visit!!!

Friday night A came over and we made pizza. (this is not the pizza we made...I totally forgot to take a picture. So I had to make do with this one....) It turned out pretty darn good! Sausage, pepperoni, and for me, pineapple. Something about home made pizza that just makes it different than store-bought. I loved it and it was pretty darn easy!
Saturday we had tickets to go to Lagoon. Not gonna lie...I have been pretty excited about going for a week or two. C got tickets and gave them to me since riding roller coasters is not her thing. Woke up on Saturday morning to find that it had snowed earlier that morning. Great. (seriously?! its almost may!! so not cool!!!) It was pretty cloudy still and kinda windy, and slightly snowing. Unfortunately, we made the decision to skip Lagoon since it was going to be rather wet and pretty cold. Didn't want to be miserable.

Feeling somewhat dejected about not being able to go, we decided instead to venture over to
The Living Planet aquarium. Never been before, and it was fun experience. Kinda small, but they had some really cool exhibits. Penguins, a HUGE python, fish fish and more fish. A good experience! After the aquarium, lunch was at In-N-Out, my favorite! Overall, it turned out to be a fun day! (me and an octopus....kinda gross!)

End of a good week

This last week was Spring Break. It was very much needed and nicely timed! I didn't have any fantastic trips planned, but had fun just hanging around here. I did alot of reading, and watching movies, and spring cleaning of my apartment. I also spent a few days with the sisters and the nephew, which is always fun! We had to make tons of oreo truffles (ever tried them? They are amazing!!) so here K and I are, covering them in chocolate. Not the best picture of me, I am sorry for that...

I got to go to an art museum early in the week. While we were there, one of the exhibits dealt with books and pages of books. This was one of the art pieces there....it was a HUGE cube made entirely from books. It was HUGE and very cool!

I also spent quite a bit of time working on this quilt. I started it a while ago, and just got the bug to finish it. I was able to get all the squares sewn together into rows, then all the rows sewn together into the top part of the quilt. I still need to bind it and sew on a backing, but at least the top part is finished!! I am so excited about it, it looks really great!

Look at the corner! Not EVERY corner turned out this perfectly, but this one did and it is happiness!

Overall its been a great spring break. Its kind of hard to think that I have to go back tomorrow....but it will be alright. Just a few more weeks and the year will be done, and it will be summer vacation. So much to do before then though! Here we go with another week of school...
